RTM Resins
Toray Advanced Composites offers a portfolio of resins systems developed specifically for RTM (resin transfer molding) applications. These resins are formulated at lower viscosities for closed molding processes, and are complimentary with many of Toray’s prepregs, cores, and films.
Resin Transfer Molding Resins
Toray offers a select line of epoxy and cyanate ester resins for resin transfer molding. Resin transfer molding provides customers with a lower cost fabrication method for building high performance composite structure. These resins feature long pot lives for large part fabrication, and low minimum viscosities for optimum fiber and laminate wet out. Resin transfer molding offers manufacturing flexibility over prepregs by allowing users to work with dry fibers/fabrics and preforms. RTM resins are provided in one-part (catalyzed) or in two-part form.
Resin transfer molding (RTM) resins are offered in one- and two-part forms and with either epoxy or cyanate ester resin systems. Epoxy systems are toughened for impact damage resistance on aircraft structures. Cyanate ester resins are low in outgassing and low loss for space and radome applications.

Cost-Effective Processing
Resin transfer molding provides an economical alternative to prepreg in that the resins are separate from the dry fiber pre-forms. As such, there may be cost efficiencies for multiple part production.
Molding
The resin transfer molding process (RTM) involves injecting a low viscosity resin into a dry fiber pre-form in a closed molding process. Once optimized, this RTM process can provide very repeatable, high-quality part fabrication.
Lightweight
Resin transfer molding (RTM) provides the benefits of lightweight carbon fiber construction similar to utilizing prepregs.

RTM Products
RS-16
RS-16 is a two-part low viscosity cyanate ester RTM resin for wet winding, RTM and VARTM processing. RS-16 is intended for lower temperature exposure and is an ideal system when used with different materials limiting the upper cure temperature.
RS-50
RS-50 is a toughened low viscosity epoxy RTM resin which can be used in wet winding, RTM and VARTM processing. RS-50 has a long four hour pot life.
EX-1545
EX-1545 is a toughened two-part cyanate ester resin with extremely low viscosity at room temperature, allowing RTM to take place with minimal resin heating. This facilitates mold filling time for difficult and / or large RTM’d structures and reduces waste.
EX-1510
EX-1510 is a toughened two-part cyanate ester resin with extremely low viscosity at room temperature, allowing RTM to take place without heating the resin. This facilitates mold filling time for difficult and / or large RTM’d structures and reduces waste.
