This tool calculates the thickness of individual plies, cured (for thermoset systems) or consolidated (for thermoplastic systems) in laminate form.
The calculation is based on the given areal weight of the reinforcement fibers (in g/m3), the density of those fibers (in g/cm3), and the cured resin density of the matrix resin.
Calculations assume 0% void content.
Note that the fiber/resin/aeral weight combinations selectable in this calculator do not denote commercial availability.
These are nominal calculated values intended to guide as to the typical physical properties that can be achieved.
