Toray Advanced Composites UK Ltd, based in Langley Mill, Nottingham, is seeking to recruit a General Manager. As part of the global Toray Group, the UK site specialises in the manufacture of advanced composite materials for demanding, high-performance markets, including aerospace, defence, and high-performance industrial applications.
The General Manager will be responsible for delivering the organisation’s strategic goals and objectives within the framework of the approved budget, ensuring the efficient and effective use of resources. This role has overall responsibility for the operational, financial, and legal management of the organisation, providing leadership and oversight to ensure sustainable performance and compliance.
This role reports to the Managing Director Europe.
KEY TASKS AND RESPONSIBILITIES
- Compliance with safety rules and policies
- Ensure the BS EN 9100, BS EN ISO 14001 and BS EN ISO 45001 are complied with in all areas of responsibility
Responsible for:
- Safety and environmental compliance of Langley Mill
- Headcount: 120 employees

- Supply Chain
- Process Engineering
- Quality
- Production
- HR
- Health & Safety
- Finance
- IT
- Dotted line responsibly for R&D & Customer Service organizations
- Must work closely with EU commercial
- Setting and implementing strategic goals and objectives.
- Leading and supervising department heads and managers
- Developing and managing budgets
- Overseeing financial performance and reporting
- Monitoring industry trends and competition
- Ensuring compliance with laws and regulations
- Managing relationships with external partners and stakeholders
- Resolving internal conflicts and issues
- Implementing operational best practices
- Driving innovation and continuous improvement
- Promotes continuous improvement environment
- Builds company image by collaborating with customers, government, community organizations, and employees; enforcing ethical business practices
- Monitoring overall performance to ensure targets are met in each area of responsibility
REQUIREMENTS
- Degree qualified (preferably within Chemical or Mechanical engineering) minimum, including 5 plus years of experience within manufacturing environment and composites experience is considered advantageous
- Leadership: Strong leadership skills are needed to inspire and guide teams toward achieving common goals
- Communication: Effective communication, both written and verbal, is needed to convey ideas, make presentations, and collaborate with diverse stakeholders
- Strategic thinking: The ability to think strategically, set long-term goals, and create actionable plans to achieve them
- Financial acumen: Proficiency in financial management, budgeting, and financial analysis
- Decision-making: Sound decision-making skills based on data and critical analysis
- Adaptability: The capacity to adapt to changing circumstances and market dynamics
- Problem-solving: Strong problem-solving abilities to address complex challenges
- Knowledge of management including sales & marketing principles
