TenCate Advanced Composites, a Toray Group company, highlights new, innovative applications and products at CAMX Dallas

23 August 2018

This press release was issued as TenCate Advanced Composites, prior to our name change to Toray Advanced Composites in 2019.

TenCate Advanced Composites, a leading global developer of high-performance composite materials, will highlight new thermoplastic and thermoset composite solutions at CAMX Dallas, booth #V15.

TenCate Expert Services technical personnel will be in booth #V15 to meet with customers to assist in the selection of the best materials from our comprehensive range of thermoset and thermoplastic-based material technologies. TenCate will also be launching our new Product Selector app providing users with full access to literature along with product comparison tools, and cured ply calculators.

Highlighted displays will include:

Novel Use of Recycled Thermoplastics – TenCate will highlight the development of a thermoplastic chopped fiber “flow layer” allowing almost 100% yields in aerospace grade thermoplastic laminate applications. This process demonstrates the use of trim and yield loss to produce local reinforcements and discrete parts.

TenCate TC380 OOA/VBO Epoxy – TC380 offers users high compression-after-impact strengths while maintaining excellent open hole compression strength. A 90+ ply part will be on display, demonstrating less than 0.1 % voids in VBO processing.

Aniform Software – A demonstration part and fabrication video highlights the use of this novel simulation software. The software characterizes and optimizes thermoplastic part molding conditions, minimizing costly manufacturing trials and shortening development times.

TenCate TC1320 PEKK – TenCate’s thermoplastic unidirectional tapes are part of Airbus’s TAPAS program thermoplastic upper spar demonstrator. A video will demonstrate the manufacturing flexibility of our thermoplastic unitapes in large part ATL fabrication.

Hybrid Thermoset/Thermoplastic Solutions – Dr. Hans Luinge, Thermoplastic R&D Development Manager will present a technical paper demonstrating the technical benefits of a hybrid thermoset/thermoplastic composite solution for optimizing the material performance and minimizing cost.

High performance industrial and consumer goods highlights include:

HP Spectre Laptop Case – This lightweight, ultra-thin thermoplastic case minimizes heat transfer through the bottom of the laptop, while providing an impact resistant, UL-94 compliant solution.

TenCate High Performance Footwear Laminates – TenCate’s thermoplastic laminates, used by the world’s leading athletic footwear brands will be on display. These materials deliver cost-effective/high-volume production solutions to support the latest generation of footwear and medical orthotics.
