Donating to Those in Need This Holiday Season

This holiday season, Toray are proud to be continuing our tradition of giving back to a variety of local and international causes. Across our offices in the USA, UK, and the Netherlands, donations have been made to some amazing organizations in their respective communities to ensure no one goes hungry this Christmas.

USA

In the US, our three separate locations in California have each donated $1,000 to food banks in their local communities. Our base in Morgan Hill have donated to Second Harvest Food Bank of Silicon Valley, one of the largest food banks in the US. They are currently driving to raise $1 million by December 25^th to help struggling families get the nutritious food they need this winter. If they make this goal, the founders are promising to match the total in donations.

Additionally, Morgan Hill ran a Christmas toy drive in aid of the Edward Boss Prado Foundation. They are a fantastic charity that we have worked with in previous years to provide toys to disadvantaged children at Christmas. They also provide vital supplies such as food and clothes to families struggling all year round.

In Fairfield, we have donated to Food Bank of Contra Costa & Solano. They provide an incredible service to the area, where a shocking 1 in 6 residents are using food banks for emergency or supplemental food. In the current economic climate, their services have never been more important.

For this year’s Thanksgiving, colleagues at Fairfield also organised a donation drive for local food banks and community programs. This included the Community Produce Program, Kids Nutrition on Weekends, and the Senior Food Program. In total, their efforts raised an amazing $1,335, which equates to 19,851.95 pounds of food!

And finally for the US, our colleagues in Camarillo have donated to the Food Share of Ventura County. This organization take surplus or donated food from local shops and members of the community and distributes them to those most needing in the area. All three of these food banks are part of the Feeding America network.

UK

Our UK site in Langley Mill have once again donated to the St Andrew’s Food Bank. Volunteers at this food bank do an incredible job in the community by providing food for those going through tough times. Located next door to the UK site, our Langley Mill colleagues know the great work this organization does. They donated the equivalent $1,000 to this inspirational community asset.

 

 

Netherlands

Finally, our branch in Nijverdal donated to Stichting United we Stand. This incredible initiative is providing essential supplies to families caught up in the devastating war in Ukraine. This includes food, clothes, and medical supplies. Our thoughts are with those in Ukraine suffering as a result of the current conflict and hope this small gesture from our colleagues in the Netherlands can provide some help where it is most needed.
