The Master Planner is responsible for developing production schedules for assigned production equipment, expediting production as necessary, determining time-phased raw material requirements and providing them to procurement, generating all required shop floor production work orders, and providing status of assigned open orders to others as needed.  The Master Planner reviews current schedules and work orders while making recommendations to help determine what resources (i.e. materials, labor, outside processing, and equipment) are required and how to allocate them to achieve optimum manufacturing efficiencies. When changes arise, the Master Planner must revise production schedules and communicate any changes that will negatively affect any internal departments and the end customer. This requires coordination with supervisors and other employees, vendors and customers.


  • Ensures that all activities are performed in a safe manner.
  • Maintain work areas in neat, orderly and safe
  • Work with other departments to understand and incorporate requests into the Master Schedule, i.e.:
    • New Orders & requested changes to quantities and/or Ship Dates for existing orders.
    • Material availability or Quality issues.
    • Engineering / Maintenance requests for Line time.
  • Supervise and direct scheduling and planning functional activities
  • Ensure Start Dates in AX (MRP system) match Master Schedule Start Dates to properly drive raw material demand for Supply Chain.
  • Manage outside processing activities as needed to support production to meet customer due
  • Schedule subassemblies (resin mix, adducts, films, etc.) as needed to support
  • Make recommendations to Operations about overtime or upcoming shift patterns to assure customer ship dates are met.
  • Notify Sales and Customer Service of risks to Confirmed Ship Dates.
  • Lead daily 7am Production Meeting.
  • Schedule and facilitate the monthly Production Plan Formalization meeting.
  • Participate in S&OP Team meetings.
  • Work with Operations group reduce Slow Moving and Obsolete Goods
  • Performs other duties as assigned by manager or designee


  • Minimum high school diploma (four year college degree preferred)
  • Minimum of three years of production/inventory control related experience in a manufacturing environment with a minimum of one year of planning experience
  • Demonstrated Leadership Skills and experience Managing direct reports
  • Must have good interpersonal, communication and organizational skills and the ability to work with all levels of the company
  • Should have experience in a computerized MRP system
  • Must be able to communicate clearly (written and verbally) in English


  • APICS certification is a strong plus
  • Knowledge and expertise in S&OP processes and techniques
  • MS Dynamics AX experience strongly preferred
