Toray works with both customers and suppliers in the development and production of advanced composite materials enabling overall structural performance.

Sr. Continuous Improvement Leader – Fairfield Operations supports the Company’s activities to improve Safety, Quality, Delivery, and Cost of Business and Manufacturing processes at the Fairfield Operations.  Responsibilities include:

  • Work with Operations Management in each business to develop an Improvement Strategy/Plan and monitor progress against the Plan. This Improvement Strategy / Plan should target Manufacturing and/or Business Processes that have a high impact on the company’s goals.
  • Collect baseline data and refine the Problem Definition sufficiently to recommend approaches (i.e. Kaizen Event, Six Sigma or other type of project) to achieve each of the Objectives in the Improvement Strategy/Plan.
  • Work with the Fairfield Operations team to define action plans and teams to accomplish the Objectives outlined in the Improvement Strategy / Plan.
    • In some cases, the Sr. CI Leader will lead the project with support resources from the Operations Team.
    • In other cases, someone from Operations will lead the team and Sr. CI Leader will facilitate, coach, mentor, etc. to achieve the results while developing CI skill in the organization.
  • Participate in the PMP process to assure understanding of business needs, and to update the Improvement Plan as business needs/priorities change.
  • Assist as required with improving the use of Metrics across the organization to provide Point of Use “actual vs. plan” as real time as possible. In this way, we help deploy Continuous Improvement into the process.
  • Provide CI Training to employees as needed and requested by Operations Management.
  • Work with the CI Manager as needed to help execute the above responsibilities, and to share Lessons Learned / Best Practices across sites.


  • Lean Certification with at least two years’ experience facilitating Manufacturing Kaizen Events, or Green Belt in Six Sigma. Must demonstrate achievement of objective(s) and sustainment on at least three projects that utilized Lean and/or Six Sigma methods.
  • Strong ability to understand and analyze data using statistics required.
  • At least two years’ experience in a manufacturing environment required. Experience with composites and/or a process engineering background is preferred.
  • Excellent problem-solving skills.
  • Excellent communication skills required, and experience teaching others in continuous improvement concepts and tools would be a plus.
  • Excellent computer skills, especially with Excel. Experience with VBA and / or Minitab a plus.
  • Bachelor’s Degree in an Engineering discipline preferred.
