Summary of Functions:

A Quality Engineer is responsible for ensuring that every product produced by a Toray Advanced Composites (TAC) company meets the desired standards. This includes the monitoring of existing products and processes, making sure that no substandard items are produced. They shall be responsible for updating or redesigning manufacturing and validation processes in order to ensure the best possible result is achieved.

 Duties and Responsibilities:

  • Provides on-site technical support to new and ongoing manufacturing operations
  • Develop inspection methods to analyze product quality
  • May train staff in quality applications.
  • Improve product quality by making recommendations for change
  • Work together with relevant teams and departments to improve products
  • Ensure products adhere to company and industry quality standards
  • Brainstorm ideas to create solutions for identified problems
  • Formulate a strategic plan to increase productivity in the business
  • Document results and findings after inspections are carried out
  • Implement a working system to ensure conformity and accuracy in the production process
  • Additional assignments of the Quality Engineer will include support of Product Development teams as needed, product testing support for the Quality Control department, failure analysis support as needed, maintenance of both TAC and Customer Process Control Documents and raw materials specifications.
  • Further activities include communication with Customers in resolution of issues and problems and Customer audits, as they are assigned and the review and approval of customer required quality certifications and test reports.

 Experience and/or Education Requirements:

  • A bachelor's degree, preferably in an engineering discipline or 2-3 years’ experience in quality, process, or manufacturing engineering.
  • Ability to apply mathematical and statistical concepts in the analysis of Quality and Manufacturing data
  • ASQ Certified preferred.
  • Strong communication and interpersonal skills.

 Skills/Knowledge Requirements:

  • Proven experience of working with databases and systems, including inputting and extracting data.
  • Excellent attention to detail and organizational/planning skills.
  • Ability to self-manage priorities and work under pressure to tight deadlines.
  • Ability to communicate effectively with colleagues, participants and external stakeholders.
  • Ability to work effectively as part of a team.
  • Work requires continual attention to detail in composing and proofing materials, establishing priorities and meeting deadlines
  • Knowledge of measurements conversion and weights in metric and standards
  • Maintain work areas in neat, orderly and safe manner
  • Understanding of measurement conversion and weights in metric and standards.
  • Proficient in Microsoft Office, particularly MS Access, Word and Excel.

 Physical Requirements
