Process Technology is new department within TAC-USA started in 2020 with a mission to bridge products and technology developed within R&D, to robust manufacturing by designing and establishing manufacturing equipment and processes.  It is also aligned globally with TAC-EU in developing thermoplastic UD prepreg production equipment and processes.

The following is the target vision and basic guidelines of the Process Technology Group.

Basic Guidelines

  3. Promote technology development based on facts and technical data (Data driven) on site (GENBA).
  4. Don’t give up until our goal is achieved and do everything with persistence and responsibility till the end.
  5. When there is a problem, tackle and solve it with a team.
  6. Thoroughly visualize technical knowledge (PKH, Technical Report) and keep the records of development documents for junior engineer fellows 20 years later.

The Senior Process Technology Engineer is responsible for Process Development, New Product Introduction, Management of Change and providing special technical support.

  • Process development: Responsible for leading and establishing new processes and equipment, engineering and development, in cooperation with Manufacturing Engineering and Operations team.
  • New product introduction: Scale-up of new product and processes from R&D to production and mass production, in cooperation with Process Engineering and Operations teams.
  • Management of Change: Create protocol and Internal process for control in collaboration with Quality Assurance Department. Process changes to existing processes with PCD control. Process changes to non-PCD controlled processes for certain industries. MoC document forthcoming will define this further as some minor changes.
  • Special technical support: Special support for Manufacturing Engineering where necessary.


  • Lead and manage process design from concept design, specification design, development, process parameter creation, qualification, and transferring products for release to manufacturing, as assigned. These include but are not limited to manufacturing tooling, major and supporting equipment, handling equipment and inspection tooling.
  • Knowledge and understanding with advanced composite materials, aerospace manufacturing industry, especially for thermosplastic and/or thermoset
  • Keep abreast of the state of the art manufacturing processes and world wide new developments for composite materials.
  • Lead in development of new process technologies and products.
  • Facillitate the transfer of developed processes and technology to Process Engineering and Operations
  • Assist in qualifications of materials with R&D.
  • Support Marketing and Sales to achieve planned Company objectives
  • Support the Manufacturing function to enhance efficient and effective material production.
  • Ability to travel

  • Able to handle multiple tasks.

  • Minimum B.S. in Material Science, Mechanical or Chemical Engineering (advanced degree preferred) or equivalent.
  • 5-10 years working experience in composites. Thermoplastic and/or thermoset, unidirectional tape, fabric prepreg and other materials used in composites, such as, polymers, fiber, sizing, etc., is preferred. 
  • Process design* experience from concept design, specification design, development, process parameter creation, qualification, and product transfer including manufacturing release and location transfer.
  • Manufacturing tooling* experience, major and supporting equipment, handling device, inspection tool etc. for composite materials
  • World wide knowledge of the state of art “manufacturing processes” with advanced composite materials, aerospace manufacturing industry, especially for thermosplastic and/or thermoset  prepregs
  • Program management skills including leadership, communication, schedule development and management, resource management, task management and delegation
  • Good understanding of material structure and property relationship
  • Familiar with mechanical testing methodology of composite materials
  • Excellent written and oral communication skills
  • Able to analyze data
  • Understand and comply with various types of compliance (Toray advanced composite safety policy, product safety, patents, national laws, etc.)
