SUMMARY OF FUNCTIONS:

The Research & Product Development Engineer supports the Company’s expanding research and development of composite materials activities in the Aerospace and Space markets. 

MAJOR DUTIES AND REQUIREMENTS:

  • Manage large programs to develop and improve composite materials.
  • Lead in development of new process technologies and products.
  • Assist in qualifications of materials with direct interface with customers.
  • Develop and establish material processing techniques.
  • Conduct failure analysis of materials, parts or processes.
  • Support Marketing and Sales to achieve planned Company objectives
  • Direct and manage lab technical personnel to achieve departmental goals and objectives
  • Support the Manufacturing function to enhance efficient and effective material production
  • Develop knowledge of new and current and technologies in the polymers and composite materials in the Aerospace and Space markets.

EXPERIENCE AND/OR EDUCATION REQUIREMENTS:

  • Minimum B.S. in Material Science, Mechanical or Chemical Engineering
  • 3-5 years experience in polymers, fibers, composites or part fabrication
  • Program management skills including leadership, communication, schedule development and management, resource management, task management and delegation
  • Working experience in thermoplastic polymers or their composites
  • Process development experience with composite materials
  • Good understanding of material structure and property relationship
  • Familiar with mechanical testing methodology of composite materials
  • Excellent written and oral communication skills
