Technical Service Engineer (1 fte)
As a member of the European Technical Services team, you will be responsible for offering technical support to Toray Advanced Composites’ customer base in Europe. The role will be orientated towards our aerospace business but will span other industries. You will be responsible for supporting the commercial team in identifying sales opportunities, offering the best material solution to meet our customer needs and building strong, trusting relationships both internally at Toray and within the industries we support. The majority of your work will involve Cetex® thermoplastic composite materials manufactured in the Netherlands and USA, though you will be expected to work closely with colleagues based at our thermoset composites manufacturing facility in the UK. The position is based in our Nijverdal, Netherlands site with a potential for home office work with regular visits to the facility.
Responsibilities:
• Technical point of contact supporting our customers in material selection, sampling, processing support, screening and qualification test programs;
• Creating strong technical relationships and clearly communicating the value of partnering with Toray Advanced Composites for material supply;
• Support the commercial team by identifying sales opportunities by utilising technical knowledge;
• Advise internally on product selection, application and processing related topics;
• Pro-actively lead and engage in customer meetings and support material processing trials;
• Organise and run laboratory and production trials within our Nijverdal facility;
• Prepare presentations / documents on products and processing;
• Project management, testing, analysis and reporting of data;
• The main market you will support is aerospace in Europe, though there may be requirement to support customers globally and in other industries.
Knowledge and Experience:
The role would suit a technical person who is looking for a new challenge working for a high-profile global organisation.
You should have understanding of composite properties and what influences behaviour in service. Ideally you will have knowledge of thermoplastic composite manufacturing techniques and have experience managing several projects at the same time. Previous experience in a customer facing role is advantageous.
Skills and Attributes:
• 3 years+ experience working in the composites industry in either materials supply or part manufacturing;
• Educated to Batchelors degree level or above (candidates with extensive industrial experience will be considered);
• Thrive working as part of a team whilst being self-motivated to achieve objectives;
• Able to communicate effectively, both internally and with customers;
• Good oral and written command of the English language, knowledge of German and French is a plus;
• Comfortable presenting information to large groups of people;
• Able and willing to travel within Europe and potentially intercontinental;
• Can react quickly to meet our customer requirements;
• Have a hands-on attitude to problem solving, both at Toray and customer facilities;
• Knowledge regarding applications of thermoplastic composites within the aerospace industry would be an advantage.
